Entering the Event Planning Market – Orphaned to Hatred

Orphaned to Hatred began in 1995 in the Apache Junction metro area of Arizona. Founded by Richard and Lawrence Sanders, Orphaned to Hatred had its beginnings not in an entertainment venue, or even in music, stage productions or through charity experience. The Sanders brothers were actually the owners of The Book Bug, a struggling book store in Tempe, Arizona. After attending a convention of booksellers in Des Moines, Iowa, Larry Sanders recalls being very aware that, “someone had to take care of every single detail of this thing.” The brothers discussed the possibilities, both for the success of their book store, and for the birth of a promotional event concern, and given their own connections in the music aspects of entertainment, decided upon a change.

There are two essential divisions of the event planning business: the corporate need for special events and conventions to promote products, services and to educate and entertain both employees and stockholders, and the social event, which includes both personal events such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, bar or bat mitzvahs, and the growing market for special silver and gold commemorations as the population grows older. These sources of revenue became the bread and butter of Orphaned to Hatred and became the focus of the business. Eventually, Larry and Richard Sanders were certified as Special Events Professionals, and expanded their services to the greater Phoenix, Arizona area in 2003. They became known as dependable practitioners in the fields of promotion, presentation, fundraising and creative entertainment success.
